A running rant about bad television, crappy products, horrible service, mindless politics, corporate and government ineptitude, moronic media, marketing overload, public idiocy, stupid entertainment, etc. Here's what's annoying me today:

Are Bostonians ALL Complete Idiots?

First off, as a graphic designer, who has had to work with more than my share of marketing people over the years, I will state plainly that ALL MARKETING PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS. In fact, I've been working on a project for one all day today, which is why I didn't catch onto all of this Mooninite business till late this afternoon.

Clearly it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that strapping battery powered devices to bridges all over a city, might be cause for alarm by somebody!!

But how in hell did it take the entire apparatus of local, state and national government, and the mainstream media until 5:00 PM, after a full day of shutting down bridges, tying the city in complete knots, and blowing up electronic cartoon characters to figure out what was going on here. Seems like there were clues all over the place. I mean, there are pictures of this thing all over the internet, and the thing has been set up in 10 other cities for two weeks. Are Bostonians just particularly ignorant?

The most comical point in the whole day for me was Channel 7 blurring the finger (3 light bulbs) of the Mooninite so that no viewers would be offended. I'm just offended to live in such a completely nutjob society.

Some of us were aware of what was going on, didn't care, made sure to avoid traffic, and came out no worse for wear. I think the question is are the people running boston ALL complete idiots.

So Cranky, think out of your little box for a change . . . . Since when is some common Coke can/hot new thing not available for appropriation by anyone else for some nefarious purpose?

Speaking of ignorant...don’t let the facts get in the way of your uninspired ignorant rant.

Boston was the ONLY CITY where these items were placed in potentially sensitive locations like hospitals, train stations, highways and bridges and university buildings. Maybe you missed that part of the story. That is CLEARLY why people in Boston reacted the way they did. But why read anything about what REALLY happened. Just blindly jump to the aid of two slackers that caused an entire city a day’s worth of aggravation. As for that dreadlocked fleabag – when your hearing to receive your green card hearing…don’t hold your breath.

Where in my post did I "blindly jump the aid of the two slackers" I said up front that the stunt was pretty stupid. And sure there were reasons why the Boston authorities took it more seriously than the other cities. If anybody gets the blame here, it's the bozos at the marketing company who came up with this scheme, not the two clowns who put them up.

Your post is so typical of what I had about blogging. Reactionay idiots who read one line of a post & then use it to go off on a tear to support their preformed opinion.

And get YOUR facts straight. The item placed at the hospital wasn't even related to this scheme.

You've got to wonder why the organizers of this marketing campaign didn't flag law enforcement officials in advance.

You've also got to wonder what the two lackeys who placed the devices in sensitive areas were thinking. Yes, the cops could have been slightly more media-savvy. But the marketing wizards who executed the plan could have been slightly more risk-savvy.

This is a case where there's plenty of blame to go around.
